ABOUT THE FABRIC
The canvas strap is a departure from the usual leather offerings from NOSTIME.
The material might be new, but the product still aligns with our philosophy; it ages beautifully, and it’s tough as hell.
The canvas comes from Kawashima Trading Co., under their Fujikinbai Hanpu line. They’ve been around since 1948 and first provided Hanpu canvas for sailing applications. Think of Hanpu as the great-grandfather of Cordura fabric.
Hanpu has the characteristic of getting softer to the touch as it ages while gaining a smoother color.
We’re also the first to create a canvas strap with a fully integrated leather backing. Durable and supple: this is surely the best of both worlds.
ABOUT THE COLOR
“Tropical Tan” is the official designation of the garment color used for the U.S. Air Force Bush jacket, developed in the 1950s during the Korean War. The Bush jacket’s design has its origins in the expeditionary forces of the Commonwealth army and hunting coat customarily worn in the African bush. It was made to protect the wearer from the hot, humid weather of the Korean summer, while also being easy to dry quickly. This is however a color that is strictly different from the Khaki color, and thus “Tropical Tan” will fill a place in your collection that Khaki cannot.
OUR DESIGN
Our design is inspired from straps made during watch revolution in the 1950s. Important features include micro stitching, thinness, tapered look, and use of calfskin & antique leathers. These straps shall perfectly complement your vintage as well as contemporary timepieces.
